Event: Trek26 Hadrian’s Wall 2019 – 26 miles, on 10 August 2019
In memory of Lily Foster
Retrace ancient Roman paths as you conquer Hadrian's Wall, one of England's most historical landmarks. Trek for loved ones, and raise money so together we can find a cure.

Story

We lost mum on 15 March 2019. Myself, my sister Lesley and brother David sat with her for eight days and seven nights, at the end of her 20 year battle with dementia. Anyone who's been there will know the last stages of Alzheimer's are hellish. Seeing mum unable to eat, talk or communicate was heartbreaking.

So, in a moment of haste, wanting to do something constructive, without reading the full details (i.e. event grade 'TOUGH'), I signed up to walk Hadrian's Wall Trek 26 (miles not kilometres...). Then, my partner's lovely daughter Megan Smith signed up too...then his son George... Megan's boyfriend Peter and of course, my other half, Mick.

Together we are Team Lily.

None of us have ever done anything like this before, so a serious amount of training is needed between now and August 10. But I know we can smash it and, with your help, exceed our target of raising £300 each.

Mum never knew my partner Mick or his children Megan and George. And she never met Megan's boyfriend Peter. But she would have totally loved them all for walking with me as Team Lily and trying to make a difference.

Thanks for reading my fundraising story. I hope you can support us and help in some small way in the fight against dementia.
