As told by a member of Paxton staff

“The 11th June 2015 was the best but worst day of
our lives. We gave birth to Rosie Hope, our perfect
baby girl, who was devastatingly born sleeping. To
hear the words ‘I am afraid your baby has gone’
will be etched in our memories forever. This is the
day our nightmares began.

We were able to spend the rest of the day holding
our little angel, but knew at some point we had to
leave and go home without her in our arms. The
heart wrenching feeling of having to leave our
child behind overwhelmed us, all we wanted to do
was spend precious time with our sleeping beauty.

Our midwife wheeled in a wooden electrical cold
unit for Rosie to rest in. Little did we know that
this cold cot had the potential to enable us to take
Rosie home until we had to say goodbye forever.
That night we left without Rosie and without our

The next morning we returned to see Rosie and to
ask if we could bring her home in the cold cot. ‘I am
so sorry another family lost their baby and have
taken the unit home.’ Our hearts sank! We could
not take her home now! ‘No I am afraid we only
have 1 cold cot for the hospital.’

As we write this we cry - the feeling of guilt, sadness
and loss we felt for not being able to bring her home,
we felt like we had abandoned our little Rosie in a
cold unfamiliar place. All this pain on top of our loss,
all because the hospital only had one cold cot.

The pain became unbearable for Rosie’s mummy,
she spent two nights by Rosie’s side in the hospital,
sleeping on the sofa in the chapel. Nothing could
stop a mother’s love.

We will never be able to stop parents feeling the pain
of losing their sleeping angels, but can help make
their last few moments with their child precious.
Can you help us take away some of their pain and
give them time with their sleeping angels? We don’t
want any parent to suffer the added pain we have.

On average 3 babies pass away each week, so with
more than one cold cot in the hospital it will mean
no one will suffer. We are raising money for cold
cots for Worthing Hospital, the hospital that did so
much for us and our Rosie Hope.

We are very humbled to say that Paxton have
chosen this very specific cause, close to our hearts
and our community. We cannot thank you enough
for giving us the best chance possible to raise the
funds the hospital needs to purchase more cold

Thank you so much from us and
our sleeping beauty Rosie xxxx”
