Story

After being inspired by the British Equestrian Trade Associations (BETA)  2016 campaign 'Take up the Reins', Peter Wilkes (MD of the Equestrian Company Vale Brothers Ltd) set himself a personal challenge. This was to learn to ride and compete at a Show Jumping competition with jumps set at 1 metre in height - all in just 20 lessons. In October of the same year Peter completed his goal with just a couple of un scheduled dismounts...

Having successfully achieved his original Equestrian challenge Peter had the option to 'hang up his boots' and bask in the glory and perhaps pursue a slightly less challenging pastime. Instead he has chosen to push his aging body to the limits (easily done) by entering a 40k Endurance race organised by Endurance GB. This high profile event attracts professional and amateur riders from all around the world and is scheduled to take place in the grounds of Windsor Great Park during the Royal Windsor Horse Show. No pressure for a novice rider then....

In order to give Peter an incentive to complete his training and the event we are raising money for his chosen charity (The Royal Drawing School) please do donate for this worth cause.

As UK manufacturers  both fashion design and technical drawing are important in our development of successful new products, we believe that these skills need promoting and supporting to enable British manufacturing to not only survive but to flourish. Here in the UK we make a number products for the Equestrian market (saddles, rugs, brushes, whips) plus fashion items including country clothing, handbags, shoulder bags, holdalls and belts.

The Royal Drawing School provides free or low cost drawing tuition at the highest level to over 1,000 people each week, across five UK sites, and in partnership with organisations in Europe, India and the United States. We could not make our programmes accessible to artists at all levels without the support of our patrons and sponsors.
