Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have suffered with AS since the age of around 18, the condition was only diagnosed at the age of 30, by this stage I had already had fusing occur in sections of my spine with daily pain and limited mobility as a result.

I feel that if there was more awareness of the condition in general, as well as within the medical community, much of mine, and my fellow sufferers' late diagnoses could have been prevented and the damage limited through correct management and specific exercises.

I hope that by running in the GNR for the charity and raising money to help raise awareness, I may help to prevent others from suffering unnecessarily in some small way.

About the charity

NASS is only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with axial spondyloarthritis (AS), a painful, progressive rheumatic disease which mainly affects the spine. An estimated 200,000 people live with AS in the UK. Our 90+ branches across the UK offer regular exercise to anyone with AS.
