Story
Hi, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
We are doing a 58 mile walk from Christchurch to Winchester via Salisbury, to raise money and awareness of the Marfan Trust; a charity very close to my heart that supports families affected by Marfan Syndrome and also carries out vital research.
Marfan Syndrome is a condition that affects many people throughout the UK, but unlike some diseases it is not well publicised. We want to raise money to support further research into the cause of the illness and ways to combat it before any more lives are lost.
My support for the Marfan Trust began soon after November 2009 when I lost my brother to Marfan Syndrome. As far as I was aware, he was a normal, healthy 27 year old man but sadly had undiagnosed Marfan Syndrome, that caused his sudden and untimely passing.
The main objective of the Marfan Trust is to support medical research so that more is known about Marfan syndrome and its severity and to find a cure. This will enable medical staff to treat patients in the short and long term.
So this is why we am undertaking a 58 mile walk from Christchurch to Winchester via Salisbury in aid of the Marfan Trust. The plan is to walk the route on the weekend 9th and 10th of November 2019 which is a poignant date because it will be the 10th anniversary of Russell’s passing.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page and I hope you will support me in this worthy cause.
