This is the 3rd year we are running the PJ day!

The idea came to us when we came home from hospital with Mattia. It was early evening and my boss came by to visit and see how we were doing...I was horrified when she came in as I was in PJs already! Later on I realised we'd just been through the worst, what did it matter that my boss had seen me in my PJs at 6pm?!

Mattia was only 4 months old when he contracted meningococcal septicemia in January 2011. He did litterally battle for his life but after 10 days in intensive care and 10 days in a general ward, we took him home and he's gradually made an amazing full recovery! Our biggest wish is that no one should go through what our little has gone through. Only a vaccine to eradicate all forms of meningitis would make this possible. Meningitis Uk works towards this. While helping raise funds for experts to find those vaccines, the best way to help people survive from this terrible disease is to raise awareness.

We want everyone to know about meningitis, the fact it can kill in under 4 hours but is also very difficult to diagnose early. As there is no vaccine to protect from all forms of meningitis yet, people need to know what to look out for so they can act quickly and also that anyone can be affected at any time in their life!

This year, amongst shops and schools taking part we have Rednock School with a non uniform day on Thursday 7th and Sainsburys Dursley wearing their PJs on the 8th and having us collecting at lunchtime.We'll even have local MP Neil Carmichael visit us at Sainsbury's to hear more about why the new Meningitis B vaccine should be part of the national vaccination plan asap.

I will be taking my boys to Music with Mummy in our PJs and attend my daughter's class assembly in my PJs too, will obviously have a good walk in town, pop in the Berry Blue Cafe where the staff will be wearing their Pjs too and in the evening, we're all out in the pubs raising loads and loads of awareness and funds for meningitis uk!
