Story
Enjoy wonderful celebrations but …please support our Christmas and New Year Appeal this roller–coaster year 2020.
Yes…we are still offering food, clothes, shelter, education, health and fun to the many children living in our refuge, and supporting those marginalized in the beleaguered shanty-town communities near our Casa Hogar. So Christmas for everyone in our refuge will as always include sharing food parcels with those most in need …and enjoying celebrations in the refuge.
Your encouragement and generosity ensure that the green, safe haven that is the Project Peru refuge as well as a ‘virtual school’ too, goes on caring for children from extreme poverty who have not been to school for 12 months, nor even left the oasis that is Project Peru. We are over the moon that two of our ex-Project Peru students having completed university are now back in the refuge supporting the children with their studies.
Recently everyone went for their first outing, masked and joyful, walking through the dusty brown desert foothills of the Andes near our refuge! As they launched themselves down the steep slopes in clouds of dust the only sound was laughter!
What a contrast with the oasis of trees, flowers, butterflies, and birds where the children have many friends to play games and sport with and the chance to dance, read, cook, make music- a bonus for our Peruvian colleagues and children alike. Our library gives food for thought, our secret walled kitchen garden gives delicious fresh food for energy!
Despite Covid-19, increasing poverty, crumbling infra-structure, corruption, three Presidents in seven days, nearly thirty years on, Project Peru is still going strong thanks to your amazing encouragement and generosity.
A huge and heartfelt thank you…your support makes a real difference and brings smiles to the faces of the children.
Warmest wishes always.
