Story

I began my life as a strong willed, fun and adventurous
fitness fanatic who would do anything in my power to get into the great
outdoors, I’m a fun loving sociable person and loved going out with friends and simply living life to the full.

Throughout my early years I had always dreamt of going to work in America, at 21 I eventually bit the bullet and decided to get on that plane and live my dreams. At 22, after a long day’s work I had a pounding headache I took a took a headache tablet, little did I know my life was about to change forever , I had a severe Asthma Attack which hospitalised me for days in America

I am definitely not one for giving up but the past 20 years has resulted in me spending days and weeks at a time in Resuscitation and Intensive Care in Hospital - leaving with a course of Steroids and inhalers it certainly isn’t the life I had imagined.... not being able to get up a flight of stairs, or not being able to go outside in the fresh air because the air quality is too damp for me

In 2017 I was put on to a programme for individuals for Severe Asthma which meant that I had the chance to trial a new injection -  mepolizumab 'Mepo' for short - which could potentially nearly cure my symptoms and my asthma attacks. I am 5 months into this injection which I have every 4 weeks which allows me to finally lead life a NORMAL life. This injection has enabled me to go to the gym and exercise, socialise with friends and go on days out and most importantly spend time with my family. This is the first winter that I can recall that I've NOT been in hospital due to the cold weather causing my asthma to flair up in 20 years

So being the ambitious person that I am, I have decided that I am going to climb Ben Nevis in aid of Asthma UK. This is an enormous challenge for me but it is aid of the most amazing charity and all the wonderful Respiratory Doctors & Nurses who have looked after me and still continue to do so  - who without, I may not be here today.

Asthma UK however do need your support and we aim to raise as much money as we can to contribute to the Research and trials which will enable more people like me to live a healthier and happier life. All contributions will be greatly accepted, Lets do this!!
