Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.

The Scottish Sensory Centre British Sign Language Glossary  website has been going since 2007 and we have collected or created over 1,200 technical signs and BSL definitions for science and maths subjects using funding from many sources. We have worked with 25 Deaf scientists, teachers, linguists and mathematicians to create this bilingual online resource.

Just now we have a fantastic team of Deaf mathematicians and teachers available to develop more maths signs. We know this is a crucial subject for deaf children who use sign language at school, and for their teachers and interpreters. Please help us to create more maths signs and definitions. They will be used all over the UK and open educational opportunities to thousands of deaf children.

Look at what we have done so far:

Every sign with definition costs the SSC £50. All this funding goes to the Deaf scientists, mathematicians, linguists and teachers who work together to create the sign and definition. I am aiming to generate funding for 20 signs.
