Story

Frindsbury Lawn Tennis Club (LTC) is an outdoor tennis club
with multiple courts for use by its members. The award winning Jimmy's Tennis
is based at Frindsbury LTC and has the largest tennis LD disability programme
in the UK, with a waiting list for more time on court. Jimmy's Tennis also runs
a Tennis For Kids programme, one on one coaching and other group sessions.
However as all of the courts are open air, the slightest change in weather
conditions can affect play and delay player advancement.

Sid (pictured) attends a local school where Jimmy's Tennis
assist the young people gaining more involvement in sport. Over the last 6
months, Sid has grown in both ability and his confidence in sport having moved
from just watching, to initially smiling, upper arm movements and more. A key
moment occurred recently when Sid amazingly held a racquet and hit a ball,
resulting in smiles, cheers and happy tears from his carers and the Jimmy's
Tennis team. This was a massive achievement, all made possible by Jimmy's
Tennis. Disappointingly though, prearranged tennis sessions such as Sid's are
cancelled when it rains which is unfortunate and frustrating for all.

To improve the facilities, Frindsbury LTC plan to build a
covered roof over their two mini courts which would allow sessions to continue
and would also offer spectator shelter. The cost of the roof is close to
£45,000 so we are fund raising to reach this total. Jimmy's Tennis have been
offered a 4hr slot in a 24hr tennis marathon which takes place in Feb 2020. To
raise the initial target of £5,000 towards the cost of the roof, sponsored
players (young and old) will 'Challenge the Pro' at the 24hr tennis marathon to
a set number of points whilst competing against National British Tennis players
at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton.

We know we can smash this target but only with your help! So
please spread the word and support our cause as a roof at Frindsbury LTC would
mean so much for our community. Help us to help more people like Sid!
