Story

So I am riding in the BHS charity race at Wetherby on October 28th! The funds raised are absolutely vital to the BHS.

All funds raised will be going to the British Horse Society and the causes they support.

I need to raise a minimum of £2500 but hoping to fly past this to raise as much as possible.

The BHS support many things but I am particularly keen to raise money for 2 of these causes.

The first is

Changing Lives Through Horses:

The BHS emphatically believes that horses have a remarkable role to play in developing character and key life skills in young people, regardless of whether more traditional methods have been successful.

Horses are a powerful way of inspiring young people to connect with others, become productive members of society and improve well-being.

To change their lives, we will support young people to gain key life skills and develop the desire to continue within education and training, whilst simultaneously gaining the tools required to support themselves into a career pathway of their choice.

To Me this is a cause I am very keen on. Even though I work with horses every day, if I am having a bad day, sad or just want to escape the hetic life we all seem to find ourselves living in, just to sit in the stable or the field with them is so helpful.

 The Other cause is

The second Chance appeal:

Right now, hundreds of horses are being rescued from a life of mistreatment, cruelty, and neglect.

Our Second Chance project rehomes neglected, mistreated and rescued horses, giving them a second chance to discover a better life at one of our BHS Approved Centres.

Our centres are home to BHS-qualified professionals who are equipped with the understanding, patience, skills, and knowledge needed to assist and rehabilitate those horses in desperate need.

Again very important cause for so many ill treated horses and ponies. I myself work in the racing industry which has made a huge effort over the last few years to make sure ex racehorses go on to have a brilliant second career. So I feel every horse no matter what, every horse or pony deserves the best home possible.

I am working closely with local trainer and family ran yard Laura Morgan. She and her family are being super supportive! I will ride out and she will supply the horse for the race, which will be decided nearer the time.

Fairfax Racing systems are also supporting me before and in the race itself! Which is hugely appreciated. I have been a big fan of Fairfax for some time now so to have them onboard is great.

I also have to pass a jockeys fitness test in September which in itself is a challenge! I have started sessions with a personal trainer to help with this!

So I am throwing everything at this and will do my best to raise as much as possible!

I also will be organising some local fundraising evenings to help raise funds!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and any donation will massively appreciated!
