Story

Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page. An unbelievable one in four people have a skin condition that requires medical care. Long term skin disease patients suffer serious impact to their quality of life and health, both physically and mentally and there is urgent need for more research and treatments. This is where Dermatrust come in, check out their website here:

http://www.dermatrust.org.uk

The Dermatitis and Allied Diseases Research Trust is a charity which aims to improve the treatment and care of skin diseases through supporting  research and treatment of benign and cancerous diseases of the skin. I was initially inspired to raise money for Dermatrust by my friend Sandy McBride, a local parent who is also a consultant dermatologist  at the Royal Free. She has graciously answered all of my personal eczema questions for years and never once flinched when I waved various minor skin conditions a her at the school gate. Talking in depth to Sandy really made me think about how complex and varied the causes and issues around around skin diseases are. We all know someone who has been affected by skin disease or skin cancer and Dermatrust works hard to fund important and life changing research and treatment. I am really proud to be raising awareness and funds for this brilliant charity. .

I will try my hardest to make it round 26.2 miles of London in one piece doing something I love on the 28th April (running, not drinking wine). I can't promise I'll run as fast as last year's winner Vivian Cheruiyot, but I will give her a run for her money in the the cheesy grin stakes if you sponsor me. All donations will be very gratefully received.

Thanks!
