We train law students and young lawyers to provide free representation at tribunals

Story

If you're reading this, you probably know that I'm the Employment Legal Officer at the Free Representation Unit.

FRU has been representing clients who can't afford to pay lawyers since 1972. We help hundreds of people in the Employment and Social Security tribunals each year. Most of the work is done by volunteers; many of whom are appear in tribunal for the first time with us.

I've run a number of marathons for FRU and each time I've written that these are tough times for the voluntary sector. But it's always been true. The introduction of Employment Tribunal fees and the damage done to other organisations by cuts to legal aid / advice funding mean that we're working in an increasingly difficult environment.

But people still need help. Which is why any support you can give will be most gratefully received and put to good use.
