Story

UPDATE: I've now run both and acheived my target - but I am still accepting sponsorship! The more we can support BCRT the better!

Enjoyed the first 20 miles of the Chester Marathon but then had cramp and pain in my right leg. But I kept going and finished in 5 hrs 23 mins 59 secs.

Many many thanks to everyone who has supported me.

My son Martin died four years ago at the age of 17 as a result of Ewing's Sarcoma. This is a form of primary bone cancer. Primary bone cancer usually affects teenagers and very many young people don't survive. Click  read about what happened to Martin to find out more.

After his death I took up running and have raised money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. I'm particularly keen that there should be more awareness and earlier diagnosis and as a result a better chance of survival.

I've just ru the Great North Run for the first time. In October I'm running my first marathon - the Chester Marathon. This will be a new challenge!

My partner Val has been working in a voluntary capacity for the trust on information provision.

I know many of you will have sponsored me before but please consider supporting me and remembering Martin by donating to BCRT. Alternatively if you would like to sponsor me to benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust or Chase Children's Hospice please let me know. It'll make a difference - and help me go the distance!

You can follow my running blog to keep in touch.
