Story

SPONSORED HEAD SHAVE - it isn't too late to donate!

As you can see, I have had my head shaved. I have broken through two of my fundraising targets already, and loads of great people have helped out, including my friends (including Nic, who took the photos), Tim Robberts (hairdresser) and some lovely Anonymous from the internet.

This website will stay up and it is not too late to donate.

You can visit here: http://demonlight.deviantart.com/journal/23576165/#comments to read about my experience.

You can also see the head shaving in real time here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EkpSsf9drk

If the images shock or entertain you, please think about donating. It was my choice to get my head shaved, but many prisoners of conscience don't have the option of saying no. Head shaving is just one of many tools captors use to dehumanise their prisoners.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

I am campagning on behalf of Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA). Here's an extract from the Amnesty website:

'Women human rights activists face repression

Since February 2003, members of the women’s rights organisation Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA) have been arrested repeatedly for peacefully demonstrating against the worsening social, economic and human rights situation in Zimbabwe. They were among the targets when the government cracked down on civil society and opposition activists after the first round of presidential elections in March 2008.'

I believe that the Women Of Zimbabwe Arise have the right to express themselves in a peaceful manner, no matter what they choose to say. They should not live in fear of physical violence, the threat of arrest or the removal of their right to freedom of speech.

And in order to support WOZA and Amnesty International's human rights coverage and campaign, I ask that you sponsor me. It doesn't have to be much. One or two pounds, euros or dollars will make a big difference if enough people give.

If you can't donate, visit http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=11478 to take part in an 'action'. It will take seconds of your time to send an email, but it could help save someone's live.
