We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

6 months ago, my mother in law was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). This devastating neurological disease is degenerative – wasting her muscles which enable her to do basic everyday things. The worse thing is that it is currently incurable. She is losing the use of her hands, arms and legs which means she relies on a wheelchair, her voice is weakening, her diaphragm is also weak which means she has difficulty breathing and has to use a ventilator including throughout the night. She needs help from her family with every aspect of everyday life and sadly has a limited lifespan as a result of this cruel disease.

The MND Association have been incredibly supportive towards my mother in law and our family during this heart-breaking time. The charity which is run almost entirely by donations has provided equipment and funding towards equipment - such as a toilet raiser, wheel chair, hospital-type bed, riser recliner chair and vital breathing equipment - to allow my mother-in-law to lead as 'normal' a life as possible.

I’m taking part in this event to support the MND Association and the wonderful work that they do by helping to raise funds so that they can continue to offer their help to other people. I also hope to contribute to raising awareness of this devastating illness. If you can help me, I would really appreciate your support.
