In February 2016 I put my name down to take part in this very famous yacht race. Two weeks later a bomb was dropped and I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. A major operation soon followed along with 6 months of chemo. Throughout this time I was determined that I would still make it as part of my Fastnet crew and I thought while I am at it I will try and raise as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK. Cancer now affects at least 1 in 3 of us so the sooner we can find a cure the better. The Fastnet race is preceded by a series of qualifying / offshore mileage builder races , the first of which is at the end of April to Le Havre. Other destinations include St Malo, St Peters Port and Eddystone Rock before the main event in August. Will keep you posted. Thanks for taking the time to read this and many thanks for your support, you are helping a great cause.
All the Best
