Story

Here was a challenge we couldn't resist.  We think its an exciting opportunity  to contribute towards addressing perhaps the biggest issue of our time.  We hope you do too.

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

We believe that professional engineers have a responsibility to consider the implications of engineering practices on the global community.  And at the very heart of that responsibility, a commitment by engineers to contribute to a world that will be sustainable for future generations.

We are raising money to support and promote the work of Engineers Against Poverty (EAP) by trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in December 2008.  EAP work in some of the world’s poorest countries, fighting poverty and promoting sustainable development.  They work with governments, civil society and industry in order to build the foundations for a sustainable future.

Please help us in our quest and contribute to a venture that seeks to ensure that the world is a fit place for our children, our children’s children and for all future generations.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor: Engineers Against Poverty will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Our grateful thanks for your support.  Please note that we will be covering the costs of  the trek so that your donations will go directly towards supporting the work of EAP.
