Story
Graham Drew has Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye condition which means he has already lost over 90% of his eyesight, and will lose his eyesight fully if not cured. Unfortunately, as yet, there is no cure.
Graham struggles to navigate in busy or dark places, and has been relying on his trusty white stick, friends and family for support. Luckily, in November 2016, Graham was approved for a Guide Dog. Ricky, a beautiful golden labrador, is already making a huge impact on Graham's life having given him much greater mobility, freedom and independence than he's had in recent years. Ricky will become more and more important to Graham as his eyesight deteriorates further.
In May 2017, Graham is cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats, just under a 1000 mile (1500km) journey covering the length of the UK. Supported by his friend and tandem pilot, Keith Leddington, Graham will be #RidingBlind to raise money and awareness for Guide Dogs UK - the charity committed providing mobility and freedom to blind and partially sighted people, as well as campaigning for the rights of people with visual impairment, educating the public about eye care and fund much needed eye disease research.
It costs over £45,000 (€52,000) to train and support a Guide Dog partnership. Your donation will go a long way to helping someone else get their independence back.
