Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
This year 2008's team is a bit bigger, there'll be eight runners in the team, and of course we're all running in honour of charlie, and all raising money to make a difference to the SANDS charity and the 17 babies who lose their lives every day.
My personal message
Those of you that know me and my wife Julie and our family, know the devestation we have recieved at the loss of our baby Charlie. After 10 years of waiting for our family to be bigger, going through years of fertility treatment, and 3 unsuccesful attempts at IVF, Charlie was the most awaited for baby that you could imagine. In August 2006 our fourth attempt at IVF was succesful, and you can imagine our joy, we were on cloud nine. Charlie was due in May 2007, but due to problems arrived in February 14th 2007 born asleep. He was my perfect little boy. I'm doing this great south run in his honour, and aim to raise the profile of Sands which is now a charity close to my heart and always will be.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sands will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
17 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK. Sands belives this figure to be unacceptably high, and wants to ensure that as few parents as possible have to experience this devastating loss.
With your support and the money and awareness that I can potentially raise Sands can continue supporting those affected by the death of a baby and promote research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
If you would like any further information about Sands please visit their website at www.uk-sands.org
So please sponsor us now!
Many thanks for your support.
