Story

Why Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team?

From an early age Rob has spent countless hours riding and racing bikes up and down the mountainsides of South Wales. Now both Jo and Rob are riding bikes and hillwalking whenever they get the chance.

However, these activities are not without an element of risk. Nobody sets out to need help when hiking or riding but it is comforting to know that we have an amazing rescue service on our doorstep should we run into trouble.

Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team are called upon by the police and ambulance service when things get tricky. Their dedicated volunteers assist anyone and everyone with donations for kit and equipment, and they don’t take a wage.

Last winter Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team helped a member of Rob’s riding club who had broken his ankle while out in freezing conditions on the side of the mountain, and did not expect anything in return. It is this that makes the charity a worthy cause. Anyone who walks or cycles in the hillsides of South Wales could require their help one day.
