Rob and Mike’s next big adventure – they take on the boys in blue (and in camo) again
We’re taking part in Driving Force 2010 in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’.
This event will now take place on Friday the 5th to Sunday 7th November.
Driving Force was until recently confined to members of the civilian and military police forces. The event starts at the Ministry of Defence Police HQ at Wethersfield, Braintree and will finish at the same place. It is run by the The Blue Light Off Road Club in association with the Federation of British Police Motor Clubs (FBPMC) and the British Armed Forces Motoring Association (BAFMA).
This year is the second year that the event has raised sponsorship and two charities have been chosen this year. One is the Essex Air Ambulance and the other is the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity. As I don't know how we could split the funds raised on this page I've decided to stick with Help the Heroes this year.
The charity ‘Help for Heroes’ was launched in October 2007 in response to the desire of ordinary people to do something practical to help our wounded servicemen and women. Its first task was to raise £6,000.000.00 to help provide a swimming pool and gym complex at the tri service rehabilitation centre at Headley Court. This target was achieved in eight months. The charity is continuing to raise funds to support wounded servicemen and women in many different ways.
Last year we raised £865.10, which I believe was by far the highest amount raised by teams on this event! We're not resting on our laurels though and want to do even better this year - you can help us!
