Story

"And now, the end is near..."

Well, this feels a bit strange...

After 6 lovely years during which time you lovely people have helped us to raise over sixteen thousand pounds for Rob's various charities, we have decided that the time has come to hand over the fundraising baton. As a result, this page will close on 31st March.

Details of our successors will be available in the next few days but in the meantime we would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you who has supported RWFU over the years. The difference you've made to children's lives all over the world is immeasurable and it has been our privilege to have been the people who nagged you relentlessly!

When we started with 2008's Soccer Aid we set an initial target of £200 and we were astounded when the appeal immediately reached and smashed that total, going on to raise £1336 - wow. And that's how it's been ever since - we have been constantly amazed by your generosity and your support. But it's time to give somebody else a go now. It would be greedy to keep all of that joy to ourselves....

Thank you all for being bloody brilliant over the years. And may you all continue to be bloody brilliant for years to come

We love you

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!

It's that time of the year again, but this year, Robbie's birthday is going to be a little bit more special, and not just because Robbie has reached the big 4-0!

Between now and the end of February, every birthday message left for Robbie on this page with a donation will be moved into the RWFanFest Birthday Book, and the completed book will then be given to Robbie as a memento of his special day.

But most importantly, you'll be giving the children at Treetops the best present of all - every single penny really does count.  Let's make this birthday extra special, for Robbie and for them :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBBIE!

It's that time of the year again, but this year, Robbie's birthday is going to be a little bit more special, and not just because Robbie has reached the big 4-0!

We are incredibly proud to be part of the RWFanFest for Robbie's birthday which is being held in Stoke-on-Trent throughout the month of February, centered around the weekend of 8th/9th.  It promises to be an amazing event, with all proceeds going to Treetops, and here at RWFU we want to make sure that you can be involved even if you can't physically be there.

WIN THE TWIN HAS NOW CLOSED!

The winner has been contacted and as soon as we receive a reply the name of the monkey's new owner will be announced.

You raised an INCREDIBLE £1245 for Treetops, and broke through the £8500 and then the £9000 targets as you did it.

THANK YOU to everybody who took part, you can be very proud of yourselves and we love you.  And for everybody else...there's always next time!

November 2013

WIN THE TWIN!!

IMPORTANT - PLEASE, PLEASE READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS HIGHLIGHTED HERE AND BELOW BEFORE DONATING, PARTICULARLY IF YOU ARE DONATING FROM OUTSIDE THE UK!!

In order to be eligble for the draw, donations MUST be made in GREAT BRITISH POUNDS- select GPB from the dropdown menu when donating.  Please also ensure that you include #winthetwin in your donation message.

By donating, you are confirming that you have read and understood the terms and conditions.

There was We And Our Monkey - but frankly, unlike Robbie on tour this year, we hadn't got 7 minutes for the rest of the song so we put him on a plane to Vegas to live out his memories.

Unfortunately - or actually extremely fortunately, as it turned out - the plane was diverted via Los Angeles and the monkey decided to look up his old partner in crime...

To cut a VERY long story short, it all got VERY messy, and Robbie begged the monkey to leave. And the monkey sensed an opportunity...

"Sign my dungarees and I'll be outta here" said our monkey. So Robbie whipped out his Sharpie (steady, girls...) and the monkey got back on the plane to RWFU Towers.

So now we have a monkey with signed dungarees and roller blades tearing up the place. We can't deal with it so we've decided to raffle him off for Treetops. Can YOU give him a home? Before you decide, make sure you read the details below!

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

Due to the special nature of this event, we've drawn up some TERMS AND CONDITIONS - we've made them simple, but PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

If for any reason you would prefer not to use your real name on the donation page that's fine, but for the purposes of transparency when the result is announced please make sure you put something in that box. Please also ensure that you include the hashtag #WinTheTwin  when you are invited to leave a message with your donation. If you forget to do this don't worry; you will have the opportunity to change it when you receive your donation confirmation email from JustGiving.

Each donation of £5 will earn you one chance in the raffle. Therefore, if you donate £5, your name will go into the draw once. If you donate £20, your name will go into the draw 4 times and so on. Any amounts donated between denominations of £5 will be rounded down; for example if you donate £12, your name will go in twice. You can donate as many times as you like.

We will post the monkey anywhere in the world but the minimum donation is 5 POUNDS STERLING. Please note that donations in any other currencies WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE DRAW. If you’re not in the UK, simply click on the drop down menu on the donation page and select GPB as the donation currency.

Because we have no way of tracking text donations, only donations made on the JustGiving page which satisfy all of the criteria above will be eligible for the draw.

The raffle will close at midnight GMT on 2 December 2013 and the winner will be drawn shortly after that. We will then contact the winner via the email address used when the donation was made to arrange to send the monkey to its new home.

The lucky winner's name will be published on the JustGiving page, the Facebook page and Twitter. No other correspondence will be entered into. These terms and conditions are in addition to JustGiving's own terms and conditions.

So in summary - £5 sterling, name, #WinTheTwin. Basically, you can win a monkey signed by Robbie especially for RWFU for Treetops. Good luck!

August 2013

WOW - just over £700 donated to Treetops during the tour - UNBELIEVABLE!

If you want to say thank you for the memories of the Summer of 2013 by way of a donation to Robbie's favourite children's hospice, donations start from just £2.  And make sure you tell all of your gig buddies to do the same!

May 2013

TAKING THE CROWN FOR TREETOPS!

IT’S NEARLY TOUR TIME!!

We want to know where you’re going, and you probably want to tell everybody else where you’ll be seeing the boy Do His Thing, so what could be better than a RWFU avatar that does just that?!

Probably loads of things, actually, but is there anything that not only informs the world about your tour plans but also helps out Robbie’s favourite children’s hospice?  We don’t think so, we don’t think so…

Starting today until the end of the tour, every time you donate to Treetops through our JustGiving page, we’ll send you the link to the avatar for your concert.  And it gets better; this time around you don’t have to ask for it and wait for us to notice, the links to the avatars will all be in the thank you email that comes from JustGiving when you make your donation.

Going to more than one concert? Want more than one avatar? No problem. All the links to all of the avatars will be provided to everybody who donates.  As you know by now though, the minimum donation is just £2 so why not splash out and donate for all of the avatars for all of the concerts you are going to?  Every £2 goes to help children with life threatening and life limiting illnesses at Treetops and you'll be helping every time - everybody wins!

Everything else remains the same; the minimum donation is just £2 (although you can of course donate more if you so wish) and you can donate in currencies from around the world using a credit card, debit card or Paypal.

Please, please share this message on Facebook or on a forum or via  Twitter or Tumblr or anywhere else you go online; we want to reach as many people as we possibly can and turn the internet blue and yellow.

Now, what are you waiting for – make your donation, and tell the world where YOU are Taking The Crown For Treetops - use those avatars with pride!

April 2013

Children's Hospice Week 2013 runs from 26th April to 3rd May.  This year's appeal, which is supported by the Duchess of Cambridge in her very first video message, has a Superhero theme and focuses on the brothers and sisters of the children with life limiting and life threatening illnesses who are supported by the hospices, including Treetops.

For more information, including messages from celebrity supporters, visit our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/rwfufortreetops

No avatars this time around, just the satisfaction of knowing that with every donation, you will have made a difference to some very special everyday Superheroes :)

February 2013

It's Robbie's birthday again, and what do you get for the man who has everything? Why, a donation to his favourite children's hospice, of course!  If you would like an avatar like the one at the top of this page, just email rwfu4treetops@gmail.com after you have made your donation and we will send one to you as soon as possible.  Happy Birthday, Rob!

8th October 2012

The Baby Shower has now closed!

You amazing people raised an utterly brilliant £601.25 (mustn't forget the 25p!) for Treetops, not including Gift Aid.

Thank you SO MUCH for continuing to support our favourite hospice, particularly through their Rainy Days. The Baby Shower might have closed, but the fundraising goes on, and this page will continue to be updated with Treetops news.

We'll be back to nag you again next year! xxx

September 2012

You are cordially invited to

THE RWFU BABY SHOWER FOR TREETOPS!

IT’S NEARLY TIME TO WELCOME BABY WILLIAMS! And what better way to do that than with a baby shower??

But what do you buy for a baby who probably already has everything?

A couple of weeks ago, we told you how after a miserable Summer, fundraising income at Treetops is 30% lower than anticipated. They need £2.4 million every year to keep their doors open, and they are reliant on voluntary donations and fundraising for 85% of that. As Robbie himself has said, Treetops “… is really struggling and needs our help. The hospice can't exist without your support... every bit helps so please do what you can".

The answer seems obvious. Our gift to Baby Williams is to help out children less fortunate than her by helping our favourite hospice in their time of need, by way of the RWFU Baby Shower For Treetops. So that’s what we’re going to do, and here are the details!

By popular demand, the avatars are back! This time around, we want to turn the internet pink. Every donation of £5 or more will be eligible for an avatar just like the one above, and you can choose whether your baby wears a dress, a vest and top or a babygrow, and what colour her outfit should be.

Donate £10 or more and we will send you an avatar from our pre-made range, with categories so far including famous people babies, princess babies, angel babies, animal babies, rock star babies, cowgirl babies, and gypsy babies.

Donate £20 or more and you can tell us what you want. We will do our very best to make your baby look exactly how you want her to look, within the boundaries of taste and decency and our artistic abilities!

As before, details of how to obtain your avatars will be in the thank you email you receive when you make your donation. We have a new email address – rwfu4treetops@gmail.com – so make sure that your junk mail filters are set up to accept it.

Also, don’t forget that you can leave congratulatory messages on the JustGiving page when you make your donation :)

You have been incredibly generous for Treetops so far. At the time of writing, Robbie’s fans have raised £5365 for this wonderful place. We’ve told you what your donations will mean in terms of avatars; this is what your money does for the children at Treetops on a day to day basis

£5 – “You can give my family the chance to enjoy a meal together”
Mealtimes are a special time for families to get together and share their day’s news. Your donation pays for a nutritious home cooked meal for one of our children.

£10 – “You can help make sure I never feel alone”
Our Community Nurses offer care and support, helping families to cope at home. Your donation pays for a Community Nurse to answer a phone call from a family, day or night when they need someone to talk to.

£20 – “You can give me the chance to experience the joys of music”
Music is a great healer and can uplift the soul. Your donation will pay for a one-to-one music session giving a child the chance to experience the joy of music.

£50 – “You can provide someone who will listen when I’m scared and need to talk”
Our counsellors give emotional and bereavement support to children and families as much and for as long as they need it. Your donation will pay for a half-hour counselling session to help families through difficult and painful times.

£150 – “You can give me caring, soothing hands when I’m in pain”
Our specialist Children’s Nurses provide not only sensitive medical care, but also fun, games and support to the whole family. Your donation will pay for specialist children’s nursing care for a day.

£600 – “You can give me a place to go where I’m a child and not a patient”
Whether it’s making music, playing games or socialising with friends, the focus is on relaxing, having fun and making the most of life. Respite stays give families the chance to recharge their batteries in a warm, homely environment. Your donation will pay for a day’s respite stay for a child.

We’re not going to lie, we’ve got quite emotionally involved with this particular appeal. We don’t know if like Robbie (allegedly) we’re all having sympathy pregnancies and it’s hormones, or it’s the excitement and anticipation of the arrival of baby Williams, or that Treetops is currently struggling and really needs our help. We suspect it’s a combination of all of those things (ok, maybe not the sympathy pregnancy bit!), but whatever it is, we would love it if this appeal could be the best ever. Robbie’s fans raised a massive £1450 for Soccer Aid; it would be brilliant if together we could top that for Treetops. Anything you can do to help would be absolutely amazing.

You can donate by credit card, debit card or PayPal from all over the world, and in a range of currencies. If you are donating online, donations start at just £2 (but remember avatars are available from £5).

If you are in the UK, you can also make your donation by text. Simply text the code RWFU74 along with the amount of your donation to 70070. Please remember that due to the fact that we have no way of matching text donations to donors, text donations will not be eligible for avatars. However, should you be over excited every time we get new snippets of news about the baby and not be near a computer, this option could come in very useful!

In honour of this appeal, we have opened a new page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/rwfufortreetops . Please go along and ‘like’ the page; there are already a few babies there waiting to party and as people donate we will add their avatars to the page, too. You know what they say, the more the merrier!

We think we’ve covered everything but if you have any queries, do not hesitate to drop us a line at rwfu4treetops@gmail.com.

Let’s do baby Williams and her mummy and daddy proud!

As always, thank you for reading

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Based in Robbie's home town of Stoke-on-Trent, The Donna Louise Children's Hospice (known as Treetops to its children) provides respite and end of life care to children with life threatening conditions and support for the whole family.

2009 marked the tenth birthday of the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust, but the celebration of ten years of wonderful work were overshadowed by a desperate need to raise money just to keep the doors of Treetops open - it costs around £2 million each year to provide this vital service, and 85% of that has to come from voluntary donations.

As a patron of the trust, our boy has naturally thrown his support behind them - this is what he had to say back in February 2009 "Ay up! Being a Stoke lad I am very proud to be a patron of the Donna Louise Children's Hospice. It is a very special place for which we should all be proud and grateful.

"The whole place was built through the generosity of the people of Staffordshire and South Cheshire and now it is really struggling and needs our help. The hospice can't exist without your support... every bit helps so please do what you can".

2009 also marked Robbie's return from three years in the musical wilderness, and to celebrate the news RWFU decided to make its next appeal more personal to our man, and to the children and their families who so desperately need our help.  Robbie's fans agreed, and our initial £1000 target was very quickly reached.

By April 2010, you wonderful people had smashed through the second target of £2500, and RWFU made the decision to keep this appeal open indefinitely.

We have tried to get the message across in the now obligatory video! but to learn more about how much your donation will mean to everybody involved with Treetops, please visit the charity's website at http://www.donnalouisetrust.org/

Donations start at just £2 (or £1 if you are donating by text - details below), and as Robbie said, every bit helps, so please do what you can - remember too that when you make your donation, you can leave a message for Treetops and its patron! On behalf of RWFU, Treetops, and most importantly the children and their families - thank you :)

Robbie Gets Behind Treetops Again

Following on from his statement in February, Robbie has now narrated a short video in support of the Treetops appeal.  RWFU hopes to bring the video to you very soon, but in the meantime, please visit robbiewilliams.com to watch the video - and we defy you not to come straight back here and donate...

The Media Pick Up On Our Appeal!

Robbie fans back hospice

FANS of Robbie Williams are raising money for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice Trust.

Members of Robbie Williams Fansites United, which was formed last year, are backing the Trentham Lakes-based hospice after hearing their idol talk about the charity's 10th birthday, which was celebrated earlier this month. The group has set up on an online sponsorship page and is promoting the work of the hospice in Robbie forums.

Last year, the fansites raised almost £2,000 for Unicef and the British Heart Foundation on Robbie's behalf.

Geraldine Knott , of Bristol, said: "The fansites wanted to do something specific for Robbie and with this being in Stoke-on-Trent, it seemed a good cause."

Treetops Forced To Close Its Doors Two Nights A Week

As the credit crunch continues to squeeze, the Donna Louise Trust has seen a drop off in the level of donations.  The trust relies on charitable donations for its very survival, and the direct impact of the drop in donations is that Treetops has had to close its doors for two nights a week.

We can't allow this situation to get any worse than it already is - please do everything you can to help us keep Treetops open 24/7 for the children and their families who rely on this important and wonderful place so much.

18th September 2009

Robbie Says Thank You!

So it's official - Robbie knows just how hard you are all working to help Treetops, and has used his blog this week to say thank you - which is nice! Read what he had to say here

Keep up the good work, you proactive buggers!

20 September 2009

CONGRATULATIONS - YOU DID IT!

As of this morning the total raised for Treetops stands at £1100 - you did it, the first target has been smashed!

But we're not the kind of people to quit while we're ahead - we're going to roll with this new momentum which Mr Williams himself kick started.

We've set a new target of £2500 - can we kick it? We're hoping the resounding answer will be "YES WE CAN!"

Robbie Williams has the BEST fans!

January 2010 - Happy New Year!

At the time of writing, you wonderful, wonderful people have helped us to raise almost £2000 for Treetops, which is absolutely incredible, especially in these troubled times.

To everybody who has already donated, thank you again! and for those still to add their name to the list - what are you wating for?!

April 2010

The Sentinel Picks Up On Our Appeal Again As The £2500 Target Is Smashed - Well Done You!

Robbie Williams Fans Help Smash Target For Donna Louise Trust

ROBBIE Williams fans have smashed a fund-raising target for a charity the singer supports.

Members of Robbie Williams Fansites United set out to raise £500 for the Donna Louise Children's Hospice, at Trentham Lakes.

But, after the Tunstall-born star mentioned the initiative in a blog, donations to the fund-raising website flooded in from all over the world generating more than £2,500.

Members of the group have now decided to make fund-raising for the cause a permanent thing.

Member Christina Royal, aged 44, from Suffolk, who led the fund-raising, said: "That hospice does fantastic work so we feel we have to get the word about it out there.

"The fund-raising should have finished this month but we're going to keep going."

November 2010

Countdown To Christmas!

With just one month to go until the Big Day, RWFU is today launching the Countdown To Christmas appeal for Treetops!

We caught up with Melanie Mills, head of fundraising at the hospice, who had this to say

"We are now on the BIG PUSH to open 24/7 and are hoping to achieve this in early 2011. But this brings with it cost committments of £160,000 on average each month, and with economic recovery slow, this is a big step to take.

We understand that there is a lot of anxiety and uncertainty over job security for some people, and that the VAT increase will have an impact on people. But we are pleading with people not to forget that we cannot run this vital service for children and families without their help.

If you feel you have to give less, that's fine, but please don't stop giving, no matter how little. We need every penny to help make every moment count for life threatened children. RWFU can be part of helping us open our doors every day and for us to be there for children and families whenever they need us!"

The current total raised by all of you lovely Robbie fans is £2950 which is amazing - let's see if we can make our own Big Push towards the next target of £3500!

Donations start from just £2 - as Melanie says, we know this is an expensive time in an already financially squeezed situation for everybody - but every penny really does count.

Thank you for listening - now click on that donate button!

September 2011

New - JustTextGiving now available!

It's just got even easier to donate to the Donna Louise Hospice Trust!  Using our unique code, you can donate amounts up to £10 straight from your mobile.  Simply text RWFU74 along with the amount in pounds you want to donate - for example, RWFU74 £5 - to 70070.  You'll get confirmation of donation and an opportunity to claim Gift Aid on the donation straight back to your phone.  All that, and you don't even have to leave your chair - brilliant!

November 2011

On Saturday 26th November 2011, Robbie's friends all around the world are coming together for the Progress Party in aid of Treetops!

The idea is that from 9pm GMT, you grab a drink and maybe some snacks, pop your Progress DVD into the player and relive the fun and excitement of the Summer of 2011.

More details can be found on the dedicated Progress Party chat thread which has been set up on Robbie's official website here - http://www.robbiewilliams.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9435  but until you have time to click on the link and read all about it, here's what you need to know as far as donations to Treetops are concerned.

You can donate here in the usual way, with minimum donations starting at £2 OR, if you don't want to take your eyes off the DVD for too long, you can donate by texting RWFU74 with the amount you wish to donate to 70070.  Text donations start at £1 and go up to £10, but if you're following the party's Give A Fiver From A Friend theme, your text would look like this:

RWFU74 £5

It's going to be a fun night and Treetops will benefit - everybody wins!We very much hope you will join us, and look forward to seeing you there!

December 2011

The Progress Party Smashed It!

The Progress Party held around the world on 26th November was a HUGE success! Everybody taking part smashed through the £4500 target, and at the last count, the event raised almost £1000 for Treetops!

On top of that, a great night was had by all; it was a win-win situation all round.  Huge thanks to everybody who made it possible :)

 February 2012

Happy Birthday £2 You!

It's that time of year again, and to celebrate Robbie's birthday, his fans were invited to join together in sending him birthday messages and gifts in the form of donations to our favourite childrens' hospice.

In true Robbie-fan style, the donations poured in, and the £5000 target was smashed - so we put it up to £5500!  Onwards and upwards, for the kids!
