Hi my name is Roberta.  I am 61 years old, married to Mark for 41 years, mum of 3 and grandmother to 4 (soon to be 5) wonderful grandchildren.  I have booked to do a tandem skydive on Saturday 12 June 2021 exactly one year on from when Mark had a liver transplant.

Our story starts in October 2019 when on holiday my husband Mark took unwell.  On our return he was seen at hospital and diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver.  He was told he needed a liver transplant!  To say we were shocked is an under statement as he had enjoyed good health and had never spent a night in hospital.

2020 is a year we will all remember for Covid19 but for us it was the year Mark was given a second chance of life by having a liver transplant.  We will be forever grateful to the donor and their family for this precious gift of life and to God for answered prayer.  Our thanks also goes to the Liver Team at the RVH, Belfast and at Kings College Hospital, London. 

On 18 May 2020 Mark was admitted to the RVH as his condition had deteriorated and he returned home 7 weeks later having been in Kings College Hospital for 3 of those weeks for a liver transplant. This was a tough time as I couldn’t go with him due to Covid19 restrictions.  

We want to thank the RVH Liver Support Group for all the help and support we received during this very difficult journey.  I want to raise £1000 to help them continue to support liver patients and their families.  Please help me raise funds for this charity as I step out of my comfort zone and take this leap!  EXCITED!!!!
