Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'll be pushing myself further than ever before in aid of a vital cause.  The Maytree Respite Centre is a sanctuary for the suicidal run by an efficient team of less than 10 staff and over 100 trained volunteers.

It's a place where people can share their inner-most thoughts and feelings whilst being listened to and heard.  We offer empathy, acceptance and 100% confidentiality.  We don't tell people what to do, we'll never judge and we don't always claim to know best.

Maytree's services are available on the telephone (0207 263 7070) and face to face during a stay at our respite centre.  We are a national charity and encourage people that need our services to get in touch from all across the UK.

If you would like to find out more, please visit the website at or ask me next time you see me.

Maytree really is a fantastic charity and certainly the best I have ever worked for.

Some people think that suicide doesn't affect them: I would challenge that belief.  Suicide is the biggest killer of young people (aged 20-34), the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 (bigger than cancer) and accounts for more than 6,000 deaths per year in the UK alone (6,188 at last count, if you wanted to know).

If you don't think you know anyone that is feeling suicidal, it's probably because they haven't told you yet.  The majority of people won't even talk to a health professional about their suicidal thoughts or feelings: that's why Maytree exists and needs your support.

Please dig deep - I will be: I've signed up to run the Bath Half, the London Marathon, the Race to the Stones (Ultramarathon), the Great Bristol Half and the Royal Parks Half - that's in the region of 128 miles or about 205 kilometres

Wish me luck but more importantly, please give generously!

Thanks for reading.

P.S.  Special thanks to and for paying my entrance fees.
