Story
After 13 hours running commencing 7am Sat 25th Aug having dipped my heel in the Irish Sea I had to drop out of this event. I'd run 54 miles. I did continue by vehicle to Tynemouth and dip my toe in the North Sea. Thanks for all your support and donations. I plan to return next year and run the whole thing! This was a very personal battle of endurance for my mind and body benefiting a charity associated with my wife's illness...
HD (Huntington’s Disease) is an incurable inherited illness caused by a faulty gene. It attacks the nervous system, brain and spinal cord, gradually destroying the person affected. Movement, learning, thinking and emotions are slowly lost over an average span of 20 years from symptoms first showing in mid-life ultimately resulting in death. Living with HD is very challenging. Getting the right support is vital. There are around 12,000 HD sufferers in the UK. The Huntington's Disease Association work to improve care and support services for people with HD.
