Anyone's Child Families for Safer Drug Control is a campaign of Transform Drug Policy Foundation. We are a network of families whose lives have been wrecked by current drug laws and are now campaigning to change them.

Story

I completed the walk of over 60 miles along the Thames Path National Trail to raise awareness and money for Anyone's Child: Families for Safer Drug Control This culminated in a mass lobby in parliament to demand our MPs end the failed drug war.

Twice in my life I have had to face the dreadful news that one of my sons was dead, from drugs. I can't bring them back but I'm doing what I can to change things so that other parents will not have to arrange their child's funeral. So, at age 74, I walked in memory of my Jake and Roland.

My story is at www.anyoneschild.org/rose-and-jeremy/

What happened to my boys could happen to anyone's child, regardless of their upbringing.

Drug-related deaths are at an all time high in the UK: 10 per day, 70 per week and over 3500 per year. Behind each figure in these statistics is a real person, and a network of family and friends left behind. There has never been a more urgent time to get drugs under control.

Through regulation we can put doctors, pharmacists and licensed retailers in charge of the drugs trade, helping to protect people from the harms of prohibition and the criminal market.

Our walk began on 20th June in Cookham and finished in a mass lobby at parliament on 25th June. En-route we were joined by journalists, local councillors and Vince Cable! At College Green outside parliament we planted 1,500 hand-made paper flowers for loved ones lost to drugs and drug policy, listened to speeches by supportive MPs from the Greens, Lib Dems, SNP, Plaid Cymru, Labour and Conservatives, were serenaded by a choir, and our members and supporters had meetings with around 50 MPs.

Across the world, drug policy reform is happening! Canada, Uruguay and US states have all legalised cannabis and more and more countries are decriminalising drug possession. It's time for our leaders to take note and make reform a reality here in the UK too.

You can help to end the drug war, better protect our children and get drugs under control.
