In May I will volunteer for 12 weeks on a development programme in East Africa. This is part of International Citizen Service (ICS), which brings young people together to fight poverty and make a difference where it is needed most. I’ll be working alongside volunteers from East Africa, on a project that helps entrepreneurs to launch their business ideas, creating sustainable jobs and changing the lives of those who take part.
ICS works with communities that have specifically requested their help. It also aims to inspire young people in the UK and overseas to become active citizens who are passionate about long term community development.
I need to raise £800. The money raised will go towards supporting the work of Balloon Ventures and their ICS partner organisations, enabling ICS to continue sending youth volunteers to the developing world to make a lasting difference in disadvantaged communities.
I’m going to be selling vegan treats, sponsored 'watch him flounder' sports, and anything else I can think of to raise money for this wonderful scheme. You can keep track of how I get on here on my Justgiving page, where I'll be documenting progress and developments. Any contribution from you will make a real difference to the lives of people in developing countries, so please dig deep!
