We create action partnerships to deliver community transforming projects

Story

We would love your support in helping us to raise funds to take the ROC Garden volunteering project to the next level in Blackpool!

ROC Garden aims to achieve 2 main things:
1. Empower unemployed people towards employment
2. Support residents who need help with their gardens

————————————
We're aiming high and looking for 100 or more people to generously donate £10 to help us reach and exceed our target.

I would love to be able to raise £1,000 which will enable our team in Blackpool to invest further into our work-placement and volunteering programme by providing new and branded work-wear uniforms for each of our team, upgrading and adding to our gardening tools and equipment, improving our office facilities, plus some new signage, advertising and professionally printed leaflets!

There is always more vision than resource, but anything you can give will help us, and help the communities we serve so much!

Our team is also rapidly expanding and we are so excited for what is yet to come!

BIT OF BACKGROUND
In 2017 we piloted our work-placement opportunities for the first time and saw 8 out of 10 on work-placement move on into paid employment! An 80% success rate in our first year! 2018 has been even better, with a core team being formed and a new training programme for gardening volunteers being written.

This year in 2019 we are now partnered with Blackpool Council's Chance2Shine and Project SEARCH work programmes, the Job Centre, Blackpool and the Fylde College, Blackpool Coastal Housing, Great Places Housing, Volunteer Academy (with Better Start and Blackpool Volunteer Centre) and Blackpool Communities Trust (NCS). Each organisation now has a pathway to help them link people they come in contact with to access a work-placement opportunity with our ROC Garden project in Blackpool!

Working in partnership with local community interest company, Green Space Transformations UK, we hope to be able to offer paid work for candidates that have successfully gone through our training and have a flare for entrepreneurship and want to put their newly learned gardening skills into practice as they provide regular maintenance for paying customers, while also investing back into others who are training up with ROC Garden too.

ROC Garden offers an action packed programme for each of our volunteers. This includes:

- Weekly Team Meetings (catch up & get organised)
- Training (learn and put into practice)
- Workshops (develop 5 green spaces)
- Transformations (4-hour garden makeovers)
