This March, I will be climbing, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles. My aim is to raise awareness and funds for the charity, Casting for Recovery. This wonderful charity provides an opportunity for women whose lives have been profoundly affected by breast cancer to participate and benefit from the physical and therapeutic advantages of fly fishing. The calming, repetitive, and low impact activity help participants recover from the trauma of surgery and regain strength and use of their muscles. Fishing is also a popular therapeutic exercise that has been proven in clinical studies to lower cortisol and therefor stress levels.
I have chosen to support Casting for Recovery as my Mother was fortunate enough to benefit from a Casting for Recovery retreat in 2012 and I would like to ensure that other women in a similar situation can also benefit from this fantastic program.
