Story

Photos and video are now available on Russ' web site.

Russ says: "I've been growing my hair since 1998, but I've decided to have it shaved to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The shaving will take place at the Lions spring event (18th - 20th March 2011), so the LARPers among you will be able to witness it if you come to the event. I'll try and get video and/or photos for those of you that can't make it.

"Most of us have been affected by cancer. My mum got bowel cancer in 2001, just as I started my final year at university. Luckily an operation and chemotherapy cured it, and she's still alive today. Her sister (my auntie Chris) wasn't so lucky, though - she got bowel cancer in 2002, and died not long after it was diagnosed. Please give something to help fund research so that more people can be the lucky ones, like my mum."

Barry says: "You all know I'm far too fond of getting my shirt off to show off my manly features of both hairy chest and back. Something I've had to defend from a lot of ex-girlfriends who have wanted me to wax it. I've always said that I would consider it for the right amount of money for the right charity, so here's the chance girls, get me and Russ to a grand and the chest will be waxed. Due to some people being a bit too keen when it was announced I got talked into doing the back too, but only if the target of £1200 is reached!

"Cancer research is an awesome charity who do so much hard work for those with a terrible disease. I lost my Dad to bowel cancer a few years back and I can tell you it's awful to watch someone deteriorate the way some cancer victims can, which is why I want to help those that try to prevent and ease peoples passing with this disease. Help me to help thousands of others!

"I am also looking for someone to 'do the deed' so if anyone out there has 'skill' and experience at waxing and will be at the Lions event in March then please get in touch!"

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift (via Gift Aid) at no cost to you.
