Story
Hello lovely people!
Thanks for stopping by this page! :) As some of you may know my New Year's Resolution this year was to run 6 10Ks in aid of different charities. In view of the current events, I believe it is now even more crucial that I do these runs and we raise as much as we can for these charities.
The second charity I am running for this year is The Hygiene Bank which distributes toiletries, hygiene, beauty and personal care items to charities, voluntary organisations and schools to fight hygiene poverty.
Recently the charity has been in the news for working with Boots and FareShare to donate 200,000 toiletries to busy NHS Frontline Staff, including toothpaste, hand cream, shower gel and shampoo.
Over 14 million people in the UK live in poverty. That is 1/5 of the population. Long before people go to a food bank they stop buying toiletries.
Over 1/3 of people living in the UK and over half of 18 to 24 year olds have had to go without hygiene or grooming essentials or cut down on them due to lack of funds. (2017)
One in 10 women aged 14 to 21 are not able to afford period products.
And children are not sheltered from hygiene poverty; tooth decay remains the #1 reason that those aged 5-9 are admitted to hospital, nearly half of all teachers said they had seen bullying because of hygiene issues, and 3 out of 10 teachers regularly buy their pupils toiletry essentials.
Low income leaves people in impossible situations where they may have to choose between heating their home, paying their rent, eating or being clean.
By donating to this fundraiser you will help The Hygiene Bank to get toiletries and other basic hygiene products to those who need it most because being clean is not a privilege or luxury. It is a basic right.
Thank you for reading this far! And thank you for anything you contribute, no amount is ever too small :) You are lovely and we are so grateful ♥
