I am doing the 6 mile swim in the Serpentine in aid of Sarcoidosis UK, a very small charity dedicated to providing, research, support and information to people with sarcoidosis. We are going to help raise enough money for the next major research project so please do help out in any way you can. Also 6 miles is really far, (a quarter of the channel you know) and I've never swum that far before, so all your generous support is very welcome =).

Sarcoidosis is a rare condition where lumps called granulomas develop at different sites within the body. These granuloma are made up of clusters of cells involved in inflammation. If many granuloma form in an organ, it can prevent that organ from working properly. Sarcoidosis can affect many different parts of the body. It often affects the lungs but can also affect the skin, eyes, joints, nervous system, heart and other body parts

There is no known cure for the disease and the exact causes are unknown. Sarcoidosis UK is the leader in funding medical research for identifying the causes and finding a cure. The charity is dedicated to funding at least one research project every year as well a providing a strong support base for anyone who is affected by the disease.

Every donation is going straight to a great cause so don't be shy even if you only want to donate a tiny measly amount. Also try to think of it as a competition to see who can donate the most.
