So, all roads lead to Rome; at least that is what I hope!  2021 has started with a further National Lockdown meaning life as we used to know it is, once again, put on hold.  With that in mind and being keen to use my daily exercise ‘token’ I have decided to attempt to cycle 2021km to Rome (virtually of course) by the end of 2021 when I hope we may then be able to look forward to times when we can actually travel once again for real.  

This year rather than setting a cycle challenge simply for my own mental ‘elf’ I have decided to try to raise some funds for Age UK Exeter, a charity which has, like most other charities during these strange times, suffered through lack of funding. 

Age UK Exeter provides a wide range of services for older people including support for those who have been diagnosed with dementia.  Budding Friends is a specific project of Age UK Exeter that supports people with dementia to find ways to live well and enjoy life.  This is a project that I have been involved with as a volunteer for a number of years and is one that I am very passionate about.  Without ongoing funding, important projects like Budding Friends would simply not exist and therefore any and every donation will really make a difference to those in need of help.
