Story
ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) is a severe, complex and chronic disease of the neuro-immune and metabolic systems that affects around 250,000 people in the UK, and 15-30 million worldwide. Even the lightest physical or cognitive activity can leave sufferers debilitated with extreme fatigue, chronic pain, nausea, brain fog and flu-like symptoms for days or weeks, none of which improve with rest.
3 in 4 people with ME/CFS are unable to work. 1 in 4 are house or bed-bound. Only 1 in 20 ever significantly recover - to date ME/CFS has no known cause or cure, and can affect anybody.
This is a cause that's very important to me, so this September I'll be cycling the furthest I've ever ridden from London to Brighton (90km including one notorious hill climb that I'm not looking forward to!) to raise money for Action for ME.
ME/CFS is often misunderstood and is critically under-funded worldwide, so it would mean a lot to me if you would consider sponsoring my ride! Every penny donated will go directly towards boosting awareness and funding research into combating this life-stealing disease.
