Imagine being told your toddler you thought was healthy, but perhaps slow to progress, in fact had a rare and devastating disability that would leave them needing lifelong 24/7 care. Rett syndrome changes lives irrevocably. With your support Rett UK is there from the beginning. #ToKnowHerIsToLoveHer

Story

As some of you may know I'm on the herbal life and training hard to get FIT. The nuclear run on Sunday 17th May is a 7km course which tests over all fitness. It's on muddy terrain involves 50 obstacles including wall climbs, wading through trenches and water. There will be mud, sweat and tears!!!

I'm running for Rett UK. This charity means a lot to me having worked with a lot of children who suffer from Retts. Jessica pictured at top is my inspiration she's the happiest 5 year old, who is so loving and never fails to make me smile! I'm honoured to work with such a wonderful little girl and her family. They Will all be at the event supporting me and cheering me on!!

Rett syndrome is a rare neurological disorder affecting mainly females and very few males. It is present from conception and usually remains undetected until major regression occurs at around one year of age, when children may lose acquired skills and become withdrawn. People with Rett syndrome have profound and multiple physical and communication disabilities and are totally reliant on others for support throughout their lives.

Over the last 12 months, Rett UK's support team have helped over 500 individuals.  Our Rett Syndrome Helpine, the only one of its sort in the UK, is staffed by professionals with many years experience in both childrens and adults services.
