As you may or may not be aware I have ocd for many years. It started when I was around 14 years old. I would repeat things over and over again because I felt like this helped me fit in at school in some way and I wanted to be in control of what was going on around me. Ocd really got a grip of me in my 20s. I got diagnosed in 2010. I would repeat what I thought were danger words to neutralise the danger word. I would also have awful and debilitating intrusive thoughts. I started to isolate myself from friends and family which lead onto drinking and taking drugs to combat the disorder. I really felt like I was strange and different to everyone else. Due to ocd and isolating myself I find it very difficult in social situations. I went through an intensive course of psychology and now I control ocd instead of ocd controlling me. I have been clean from drink and drugs for 8 months. Ocd can be very debilitating and effects people in different ways. I'm supporting ocd action because I know what it is like to live with a mental health disorder and the stigma that still surrounds it. I want to help raise awareness of this condition and support people going through tough times and hope that people i know will support me and ocd action to help people who struggle daily with this disorder. Thanks for reading. Sam x
