Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know that there is an official UK Dechox for February and it's for a great cause (British Heart Foundation). However, it makes more sense to support a charity that has personal meaning for me and could help me again in years to come.
I was diagnosed with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (WM) back in October 2001 and WMUK has been a great support over the years. Some of you will remember our fight with the NHS, over the stem cell transplant issue, in 2016. That was totally backed by WMUK and I personally couldn't have done what we did without them and Harriet. However, that treatment wasn't a cure and a time may come when I need the support of WMUK again.
So, I am trying to give something back. Those of you who know me well will know that I'm a total chocoholic. This month I've done dry January (with a slip of one prosecco and one glass of wine one day this week). Cutting out alcohol is not an issue for me, but chocolate is a totally different story and will be a real struggle.
You'll have to trust me, as I have no way of proving that I do do this. However, I promise to you all that no chocolate will touch my lips in any way shape or form in February - not even sprinkles on a cappuccino. It will be tough, but at least it isn't Mother's Day or Easter this time and after all it is the shortest month. I'm not stupid!
Thanks for your support
