The Silver Line

We offer friendship, advice and information to improve the lives of older people

Charity Registration No. 1147330

Story

Each year I try and do some fundraising. This year, I have chosen to fundraise for The Silver Line - the only free, national, confidential helpline open 24/7 offering information, friendship and advice to older people. The Silver Line is also Willis Towers Watson preferred charity partner for 2019.

In May, together with other WTW colleagues, I will be taking on five of England's most demanding peaks in the Lake District in one day. It's certainly no walk in the park! We are preparing for an exhausting but energizing journey through the rugged and dramatic landscape of the Lake District - Scafell Pike, Great End, Esk Pike, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags - all in 1 day!

Thanks in advance for supporting me and The Silver Line.

Since our national launch in November 2013, The Silver Line Helpline has received over 2 million calls. Over two-thirds of these calls were made overnight or at weekends when no other helpline is available for older people who may be lonely, isolated or confused. We now receive around 10,500 calls every week from lonely and isolated older people; with 53% of callers saying they have literally no-one else to speak to.We rely entirely on voluntary donations to cover the cost of calls to the helpline, just £10 allows us to answer 2 calls.
