Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Sadly last year, on Wednesday 11th July one of the Dads from our Saturday morning tennis group passed away suddenly from a heart attack, aged just 50. Rob Atkinson was a true family man and left behind his beloved wife and 3 beautiful young boys, aged 9 and twins aged 8.
To celebrate his life, and as a mark of respect, on the 19th July we will be embarking on a mammoth 24 hour relay tennisathon at Penzance Tennis Club. We are starting at 10am and playing through until 10pm that night when we will go up the road to Polwithen House to play overnight by lamp light! At 6am we will return to the tennis club where the final Players on court will be Rob’s wife Jo and her boys. There will be a number of fundraising events at the club on the Friday night with live music from a local flute choir Flautistas, the singers Twin Harmony and a five piece Indie Rock band Caine. The money raised via this page will go towards research at the British Heart Foundation “Beat Heartbreak Forever” - something we would all like to achieve I am sure!
Rob was a Master Mariner and the Harbour Master at Padstow. He had a love of sports as well as the sea and we are hoping to have players from the RNLI station at which Rob was a member (hopefully playing in uniform!) and his badminton club along with those of us who knew and played with Rob at the tennis club. The event will finish at 10am on Saturday morning with the last players on court being his wife Jo and the three children.
