Story
Saturday 9 May should have been the day that I raced my 5th half Ironman on the palm beaches of Mallorca. It’s been cancelled (no surprise). I haven’t trained well over the past few weeks, but to avoid me spending the day on Saturday just eating cake, I’m going to attempt the bike and run distances in the less tropical setting of North London.
I’m raising money for the child sponsorship project that I set up and that I run through the Rwenzori Trust. Now in our 12th year, we support 43 children through secondary and tertiary education each year. I visit Western Uganda regularly to see the fantastic impact that this small project is having on the community of Ruboni village. We now have lots of “graduates” from this financial support programme that have gone on to find careers in teaching, nursing, tourism, midwifery, accountancy... all thanks to the child sponsorship project. The project is transparent and every penny raised makes a difference. Please message me if you’d like to know more! In the meantime, schools in Uganda are set to reopen shortly for the summer term and the need for financial support from the Rwenzori Trust remains as great.
Please sponsor me! Any donations, large or small, are really gratefully received. I will let you know how I got on (here and on FB) after the (non-) event.
