20 years ago I spent my last Father’s Day with my dad. Grief is difficult and unpredictable. You don’t know how or when it’s going to hit you. As an adult it’s bloody hard to deal with, as a child it’s unimaginable. I had the support of an amazing charity called Daisy’s Dream, who still to this day helps children and their families deal with grief.

Next year, to commemorate 20 years since we lost my dad, I will be taking on a challenge I’ve wanted to do for years, but never had the drive to actually get on and do - the London Marathon - and I will be running for Daisy’s Dream.

It’s going to be a long road and I will need help from family and friends far and wide, but I know I can do it, and help a little charity that does so much for children struggling at a very difficult time in their lives.

Daisy’s Dream helped me to celebrate my dad’s life and move on in a positive way, remembering the happy times. 20 years on I still remember the Daisy’s Dream camp, the sand bottles we made, the clay we smashed against a wall, the balloons we let go and the friends we made.
