Story
Pupils from across Sutton have been working to make a
tremendous positive impact on their communities throughout the challenges that 2020 and 2021 have brought. Together they have previously raised over £28,000 for local charities through various fundraising events.
The latest idea has come from Muschamp Primary School which belongs to Sutton Education Trust (SET). Muschamp school council wanted to reconnect with their peers in other Sutton Education Trust schools and thought that initiating another joint fundraising event, which involves all the children in the schools walking a combined distance of 100 miles, would be a great way of doing this!
They have taken their latest inspiration from Captain Sir Tom Moore and felt compelled to thank the staff at their local hospital, St. Helier, for their tireless work during the COVID Pandemic which has affected each and every one of our families in some way.
Just as Captain Tom inspired others, the children from the SET wish to inspire a generation of children in Sutton to work together to support their community. They decided to go the extra mile and to invite all Sutton schools to join their adventure.
The schools involved are:
From the Sutton Education Trust:
Bedding Infants, Culvers House, Dorchester, Foresters, High View, Muschamp, Nonsuch Primary.
From the Leo Academy Trust:
Brookfield, Cheam Common Infants and Juniors, Cheam Fields, Cheam Park Farm and Manor Park
Other Sutton schools:
Holy Trinity, Tweedale, St.Dunstans, Wandle Valley, Bandon Hill, All Saints Benhilton, Sherwood, Robin Hood Juniors and Devonshire.
All of the schools involved are committed to developing a
sense of local and global citizenship amongst their pupils and see this as an opportunity to support children to identify ways of helping people, no matter how old or young you are.
So if you can, please support the children's efforts in raising money for St Helier hospital.
Thank you.
