The Challenge:

The idea is straightforward. Run from Edinburgh to Kyiv to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine amid the ongoing atrocities and raise some money for the UK disaster relief charity.

The problem is we have agreed to do it in the 31 days of May

The distance is 2698km.

That means we have to run 208km each with an average run of 6.7km a day.

We have pledged to run this as best and fast as we can and, although age has taken its toll on a lot of us, we already have an in house competition and it is hotting up!

We are measuring and keeping note of our progress through the Strava app. We will be posting our virtual mapping progress most days on social media, for instance we hope to reach the English border on the first day.

The Reason:

That will hopefully be obvious. We all felt like we had to do something that would give some, even small, assistance to the people of Ukraine. The stories and pictures from the country are heart breaking and the fact that this is an attack on a fellow European country and their people who we share values of democracy and freedom brings it home all to us. The fact that we are running there is intended to highlight the closeness and reality of the situation.
