On Saturday 22nd September, Cordwainers' Past Warden James Harland Fairweather, Freeman Jack Hooper, Hattie Blake (Jack's friend), Freeman Victoria Peal, Past Master Mark Shaw, Past Warden Eleanor Stillwell, Past Warden Adrian Theed and Liveryman Guy West will be taking part in the Serpentine Swim in Hyde Park. Even if there is pouring rain, howling wind and freezing water temperatures, these intrepid swimmers will be taking on either the 0.5 mile or the 1 mile swim in order to raise funds for the great work of the Alzheimer's Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity – there for the 850,000 people currently living with dementia in the UK, and the 670,000 people who care for them.
Dementia devastates lives, and so many people are facing it alone, without the information, support and care they need. The Alzheimer’s Society is committed to changing this unacceptable situation, and building a society that understands, supports and values people with dementia.
Funds raised by the Cordwainers Company will support the Alzheimer's Society's Side-by-Side project. This volunteer-led service supports people to get out and about in the community, take part in new activities and build their own social networks, so that they can have a better life with dementia.
