Hatti was a young woman who loved life. She was always positive and ready with a smile, spreading a sense of fun to those around her. At just  24, she was diagnosed with Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

A few months later, Hatti received the terminal prognosis. Upon hearing the heartbreaking news, her friends and relatives set up a fund called Smile for Hatti with the goal of enabling some improved quality of life in the weeks and months leading up to her death. The financial support enabled a stairlift to be installed, massage sessions helped ease her pain and complementary therapies meant that she never gave up hope. Before she passed, Hatti asked that a charity be set up in order to do the same for others in a similar position and henceforth, what was Smile for Hatti became Smile from Hatti.
