Story

Thanks for visiting this page.

I'm leading a project to help upgrade the computer and network infrastructure at a hospital in Katete in Zambia. I've visited several times and its full of ageing equipment, suffering from poor maintenance and the effects of frequent power surges and blackouts - at the moment they have a daily blackout of 8 hours. The hospital also suffers from local staffing problems, and has many doctors from Europe and across the world who go for at least 6 months up to a few years to help.

This project is to upgrade the equipment, rewire much of the site, provide protection against the poor power supply, and be battery backed to prevent outages. We're also looking at upgrading the internet connection so that many of the doctors from Europe and local staff can use it to contact family and friends and not have to rely on the local mobile networks.

All of the proceeds from this appeal will go towards purchasing equipment or shipping it all out to Zambia. Any remaining proceeds will go towards maintenance in the future.
