Story
The main activities of this Charity revolve around visits to Sub-Saharan Africa countries to provide training for anaesthetic medical staff at the front line of maternal care. Since the Charity was set up in 2005, volunteers from welsh hospitals have helped develop and deliver training in 4 countries i.e. Benin, Togo, Ethiopia and Liberia.
I travelled to Liberia in December 09 to train anaesthetic medical staff at the front line of maternal care. The idea was to teach simple, safe skills, to whoever is delivering anaesthesia to pregnant mothers. This could be either doctors, nurses or simply people trained up to give an anaesthetic – it doesn't matter who it was, they just have to have safe practice explained to them. Whoever! It really was a pleasure to be involved in the education of these people. Charities are also suffering this year due to lack of funding during the recession, and we are doing our best and I would be really grateful if you could visit and pledge whatever you can.
This charity is solely funded by donations.
