Ronald McDonald House Bristol

We provide free accommodation and support to families with critically ill children

Charity Registration No. 1091342

Story

We’re raising money for the Ronald McDonald House charity - providing free accommodation for families of children who are having to stay in hospital.

One of our twins (Clara) was born with a serious heart condition. Over last Christmas her condition deteriorated and she eventually ended up in the paediatric intensive care unit at Bristol. We were lucky enough to have use of the Ronald McDonald house which meant that Sian (along with Martha – our other twin) was able to stay there and therefore be close to Clara during her time at the hospital.

Once Clara’s condition stabilised, she went on to successfully have open heart surgery and within three weeks our family was all back at home together. We can’t really imagine how we would have coped had Sian not been able to stay close to Clara during her time at hospital. For families who aren’t close to the hospital their child is in and who financially don’t have the luxury of being able to pay for accommodation themselves, the Ronald McDonald House charity is a godsend.

We’re now in the process of raising money for this charity (specifically the Bristol house) and one of the things that we are doing is running a family fun day at Neston Village Hall on Sunday, 2 September (1pm – 4pm). We would love it if as many of you could attend as possible. We’ll be providing more details over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, we'd be greatly appreciative of any donation you feel able to make.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
