Story
Hi
Why run the London marathon and raise money for prostate cancer? Well in 2003 I ran my 29th marathon, then on Christmas Eve of the same year I was diagnosed with testicular cancer and woke up on New Years Eve to find they had removed both. Some what of a blow to moral ! Four months later I had a stomach operation which found I had Non-Hodgkins-Lymphoma.
I was told that because of the Lymphoma and low testosterone levels, I wouldn't have the energy to run marathons again and making 50 (41 at the time) would be an achievement. My inspiration came from the wonderful Jane Tomlinson who fought her cancer so hard. So in 2005 I did my 30th marathon and slowly built up to my 100th in 2009 and did my 200th in 2012 a month after reaching my 50th birthday.
I raise money for Cancer Research as it goes to fighting all cancers. I put my strength down to three things: My faith, the fantastic support of my family and being a Stoke City fan - an eternal optomist.
Thanks for your support.
